Lae Biscuit Company prep sporting franchises
Utilising sporting teams and especially semi-professional sporting elites join the campaign against gender base and sexual violence should be the way forward for a holistic approach.
Given the obvious increase in occurrences of gender base violence and sexual abuse in Papua New Guinea so too is the calling to unite at all levels of social development to effectively counter act.
Femili PNG in Papua New Guinea is a non-government organisation advocating against gender base violence and sexual abuse and a daily chore for them to educate and care for victims of this infectious cycle.
But its now time to impart their knowledge of this dreaded cycle so that every individual takes up the challenge to minimise and eventually bring to end instances of these abusive practises eating away the fabric of societies in PNG.
And the Lae Biscuit Company is proud to partner Femili PNG for the overhaul through the engagement of its semi-professional sporting franchises, the Lae Snax Tigers and Lae City FC.
To date Lae Biscuit Company Group Manager John Chow has announced partnering with Femili PNG realising the greater need to utilise its semi-professional franchises to be role models both on and off the field addressing gender base violence and sexual abuse.
Chow admits it is obvious GBV and sexual abuse is becoming a common disease infiltrating societies at all levels.
Chow said but first in order to stand up to the challenge there is the need to be properly versed with the issue.
He said thus is the partnering with Femili PNG having carried out informative sessions with the company’s sporting franchises.
Tigers team concurred that indeed gender base violence and sexual abuse is a cross cutting issue in PNG that is on the rise despite efforts to curb.Lae City FC members added the diversity of culture, customs and traditional livelihoods has really downplayed effective efforts to address the issue for so long.
